Apparition has found a home.

He certainly made an impact on people

and has now found someone to watch over

Go! Wildlife! Go!

In the jungle the mighty jungle.....

Though it's no longer a "fashionable" genre I still

resolutely refuse to stop painting my wildlife pictures.

If seascapes are my bread and butter then

wildlife is the icing on my cake. I do think there is a

slight resurgence and I've just sold a piece at the

National Exhibition of Wildlife Art.

I've also sold a few wildlife images recently through my

local,and very supportive, gallery Hepplestone Fine Art.

This piece, entitled "Apparition" is currently available from them.

Painting Live

This was me in full flow at a VIP evening held

at Westover Gallery. I really enjoyed this event,

met some great people who showed a

genuine interest in what I was doing.

It's great to get out and show people how it's done.

Well not too much, don't want to give all my secrets away

I now accept that I have a problem.

THERE AREN'T ENOUGH HOURS IN THE DAY!!!

So bear with me and I will put some orangutan photos up,

I just need to find a bit of spare time.

Just a Taster

Back in the freezing cold UK!!

It's about 20 degrees colder and I'm still running on Borneo time.

It was a truly amazing experience and we are already planning to go back and do the Sabah end of the island. I've tried to upload a video clip but it doesn't want to play ball so I'll just use a photo for now to give you a taste of jungle life.

I got a huge amount of reference so I'm really looking froward to starting on some new work!!

BORNEO HERE WE COME!!

This is going to be AMAZING

Just one of the things planned on this trip,

a canopy walkway over the rainforest.

The itinerary is pretty full on so I won't bore you with

all the details, but of course there will be...

a trip to see the ginger monkeys:-)

before I went to Botswana, but that was what

everyone called them, so I sort of picked it up!!

I don't do as many as I would like.

an endangered species!!

Countdown to Borneo -15

It seems to be coming round incredibly quickly.

I thought I had everything organised but stuff happens.

This latest piece is a commission request so I'm

working really hard to get this finished.

Still have some gallery deliveries to do as well.

The good news is that the picture I put in to

the DSWF Wildlife Artist of the Year sold,

so at least I don't have to go down to London

to collect that. Phew!!

Finally Got There!!

It was a looong day!!

We left at 6 in the morning and got to

the gallery mid morning. We were just going

to the hotel when we got a call to go back and

do a video interview. So there we were

no shower, hair do or make up!!

Hmm I'll leave you to decide

who looks the worst.

Fellow artist Toni Hargreaves and myself

did a painting live evening

at The Balnave Gallery in Newbury.

Slight panic ensued when we picked up the last of

the work from the framers, no way was it all going to

fit in the car!!Frantic phone calls managed

to find a van to hire and, frankly it was still

a bit of a squeeze. You can just see

Toni peeping through from the front.

Something different this way comes..

Well it does if it works out OK

I'm working on something really different for me

so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it all turns out right.

Last time I tried something new it ended in the bin!!

Oh well!! The joys of being an artist!!

Onward and upward, nothing ventured nothing gained.

OK enough cliches....

I've been converted!!

No I haven't got religion!!

I've been painting with acrylics!! Yes me!!

I've always said I'd never use them but I saw

an article in "Paint" magazine and fancied having ago.

And Yes!! I am now a convert!!

You can't see from this image but I've used modelling paste

to create texture on the rocks.

I'm already painting another, not least because I have

loads of this sort of reference from my years in Devon.

Onward and upward!!

It may take a while!

But I got there in the end...

This was the piece I started on 14th March at the demo with Toni.

I've only managed to get back to it this week as I've been working

on commissions and other stuff.

Some of it really tedious like doing my books for the year end, yawn!!

So I was really glad to get back to the easel, though it took a bit of

time getting back in to this piece as it had been such a loooong break.

Still tis done!!

This Techno Stuff is a Doddle!!

Well that's what I think now I've got the hang of it!!

I've now managed to upload all my available artwork to a web album.

It also shows a map with their locations.

But I can't really take the credit cos it's all down to those clever

people at Google who make all these things available.

And actually quite easy to use.

Must get back to the easel tomorrow though!!

Finally Did It!!

What? You may ask!

Managed to upload a slideshow to my blog. Yay!!

It's only taken me a couple of months to work it out.

They need changing as they are a bit out of date now.

Oh b*****, another job to do!!

Panic setting in now!!

Where has this week gone?

It's been a week full of paperwork and computers, horrible!!

Can't wait to get back to my easel next week.

I know we all have to do the dreaded bookwork,

well not if you can afford to pay someone else I suppose,

but it just takes so long and it gives me a headache!!

And the worst part is it's so the taxman can help himself to

my money, my hard earned money.

OK done ranting now!!

Just noticed that loads of the pictures I'd

put on my blog had gone.

No idea why, I never touched them.

Must be one of those things that makes

me love computers sooo much!

Toni Hargreaves & myself at a recent art demo organised by

Hepplestone Fine Art.

We weren't quite sure what to expect, but it was a really

great afternoon. Lots of people turned out,

which made for a wonderful atmosphere.

Whoop de whoo!! Yes folks I'm cock-a-hoop!!

'Cos Catch of the Day has been shortlisted

for the DSWF Wildlife Artist of the Year.

So it will be going down to the Mall Galleries

in June to be part of the WAY exhibition.

It's all about raising money for endangered species,

something which I'm very passionate about.

I've just finished this piece, it's a scene from my Devon days.

Peace and tranquillity where are you now?

Long morning walks along the creeks with the dogs,

seems but a distant memory.

Mind you it was a long way to go for a pint of milk!!

And don't get me started on the Grocles!

No not me, although it's been a long week!

I've finished the commission I've been working on,

or at least I think I have, will check it tomorrow

in the cold light of day.The worst part will be

showing it to my clients,always hate that bit,

probably why I don't do commissions very often.

If it gets signed off I'll put a photo of a part of it

up, want my customers to be the first to see the

whole picture.It's a large canvas so will need a bit of

drying time before I can take it to show them.

Off for a very large glass of wine to celebrate!!

Am feeling a lot better about work today.

I'm setting myself a time limit on the piece
I'm working on so we'll see how it goes.

Had a restless night so have two Sainsburys,

or enter the supermarket of you choice,

bags under my eyes. Who'd be an artist?
